As for this season, Galaxy boss Bruce Arena gave his club an above average grade heading into the second half of the season but the head coach is confident that the team can make a run up the table.
“We’re halfway into the season, and I’d probably give us a B- on the first half,” Arena said after the win over Vancouver on Monday. “But we haven’t played our team the whole year. Hopefully, we can get through the next three of four games and have our team in good form when August comes around. It’s been one of those years.”
Galaxy captain Robbie Keane agrees that if the team get their pieces together, they can start to string together a few positive results.
“Have we done okay? Yeah, we’ve done okay. We’re sticking in there. The problem when you’ve got the Galaxy, you’ve got a team that will always have players going away on international duty,” Keane said. “And of course, we’ve had a few injuries as well. And then we have some suspensions… If we get everyone fit and back on the field, I think we’ll be okay.”
