With two games left in the 2016 USL Regular Season, LA Galaxy II had yet to lock down a USL Cup Playoffs spot.
Los Dos were at home on Sept. 14, hosting Rio Grande Valley FC Toros. At the time, RGVFC was 2nd in the Western Conference standings and had lost only once in their previous 11 matches.
After Clement Diop helped Los Dos preserve a 0-0 scoreline at half, Head Coach Curt Onalfo made an early second half substitution, inserting forward Adonis Amaya into the match. Just three minutes after Amaya entered the game, he assisted Ariel Lassiter on the game-winning goal, lifting LA to the 1-0 victory.
With the win, LA Galaxy II earned the three points needed to lock down their third straight playoff appearance – their third in three years of competition as a club.
LA Galaxy II is counting down the top moments of the 2016 season ahead of the team’s 2017 season opener, presented by Bare Republic. Los Dos will open the 2017 USL Regular Season against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium.
