COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – Brian Rowe did just about all that he could to help the LA Galaxy preserve a point in their trip to face the Colorado Rapids last Saturday. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.
The Galaxy fell 1-0 to Colorado on Marco Pappa’s stoppage time winner that negated an impressive seven save performance by Los Angeles’ backup goalkeeper. The start was Rowe’s first of 2016 and his second appearance of the season after he made five saves filling in for the injured Dan Kennedy in the team’s win over D.C. United a week prior.
After another strong showing, Rowe was left pleased with how he performed, but frustrated with the result.
“I felt good. The thing is, it’s a team sport and you kind of win and lose as a team. We were close to getting that shutout which I thought we deserved,” Rowe told reporters. “We felt good tonight, but just closing out those last couple of seconds and just being sharp until the end is something that we’re going to have to do especially on the road this year. It’s going to be tough.”
Whether Rowe retains his starting position for this week’s clash against the San Jose Earthquakes remains a question mark with Dan Kennedy still recovering from a leg muscle injury.
Regardless of whether or not he starts between the pipes against the Quakes, Rowe believes the Galaxy will learn from Saturday’s loss.
“I’m sure we will break down the film this week and see what we can do better,” Rowe said. “In the end, we fought the whole game, and it’s just not a result we deserve.”
