Bruce Arena on New England Patriots comparison: "We've been called worse" | INSIDER

CHESTER, Pa. – Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin described the LA Galaxy as the [New England] “Patriots of MLS” ahead of their match on Wednesday, and that particular comparison sits well with Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena.

After the Galaxy’s training session at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Arena was asked about Curtin’s comparison and couldn’t contain a smile.

“You think it was the New England Patriots or the Patriots in the sense of the founding fathers in Philadelphia?” Arena told LA Galaxy Insider. “I don’t know what that means, but we’ve been called worse. I’m going to accept that terminology for our team.”

If the Galaxy are the Patriots then who plays the role of their most colorful players Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski? Mike Magee has the answer.

“Who’s Tom Brady? Keano has to be Tom Brady,” he said with a grin. “Jelle has to be Gronk.”
