CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena insists that the LA Galaxy are working to retain veteran forward Alan Gordon and bring in "two or three" more players before the group reconvenes for the preseason.

Gordon is currently out of contract and available in the MLS free agency process, but Galaxy remain the leading suitor for the veteran forward. In an interview with LA Galaxy Insider, Arena confirmed that the Galaxy are eager to keep Gordon at StubHub Center.

"We’d like Alan back with us," Arena told LA Galaxy Insider. "We’re hopeful that we can work on the issues with the salary cap and bring him back."

The Galaxy boss also stated that he is are looking to add "two or three" more players to the roster and also has his eye on "couple" of players currently available for free agency. Despite all the talk of the new free agent player mechanism, Arena does not expect much free agent movement this season.

"Not really, free agency without any money doesn’t’ mean a whole lot," Arena said. "I think in the future, free agency will be great for the players, but right now, it doesn’t mean a whole lot like it does in other sports because there is just not the money out there to benefit from the freedom of movement."
