Bruce Arena sounds off on U.S. Open Cup scheduling for the LA Galaxy's Round of 16 match against San Jose Earthquakes | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- Bruce Arena vented  his frustrations about the LA Galaxy's U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 draw to reporters on Thursday.

The Galaxy are slated to face the San Jose Earthquakes on July 1 in the U.S. Open Cup fifth round at Avaya Stadium.  LA's Open Cup date will come just four days after the Galaxy's league match against the Earthquakes at Stanford Stadium.

With the scheduling presenting logisical headaches for the Galaxy -- and putting the side on a course to play five games in 15 days -- Arena was quick to  voice his displeasure.

"It's fine. It's an hour flight which is a luxury," Arena said. "It should be the 30th in all honesty. ... We have a game on Saturday after that. It makes no sense. It's illogical some of this stuff. It is what it is. It's better than going across country which is good."
