Daniel Steres expected to miss LA Galaxy match with Houston Dynamo | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. –The LA Galaxy hoped to have Daniel Steres in time for Saturday’s match against the Houston Dynamo, but ultimately, it was just too soon for the central defender to return from injury.

Steres suffered a hamstring injury during the Galaxy’s victory over the San Jose Earthquakes late last month and has only since resumed partial training over the past week. The Galaxy had been optimistic that the defender could return in time for the Houston match, but head coach Curt Onalfo revealed on Thursday that it is “doubtful” that he is available for selection.

“We were progressing with a goal in mind of this weekend, but I think it was just a little too early," Steres told reporters. "We tried a bit this week, and it just wasn’t ready yet. Rather than try to push it, we’re just going to make sure it gets fully healthy and look at the games ahead because we have a lot coming up."

In his limited training, Steres has been able to run and recently began on ball work over the past week. Although it was ultimately too quick for him to return from his injury, Steres believes he’ll see the field during the Galaxy’s brutal upcoming slate.

“I think I’m probably out for this Saturday. It’s too early,” Steres said. “We’ve got five games coming up in the next month. We’re going to need to rotate our lineup, and I’m hoping that I can be a part of it.”
