Five LA Galaxy players called into respective National Team rosters for 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup

LOS ANGELES (Thursday, July 1, 2021) – LA Galaxy midfielders Efrain Alvarez, Jonathan dos Santos and Sebastian Lletget and defenders Oniel Fisher and Giancarlo González have been called up to their respective national teams for the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, it was announced today. 

Alvarez and Dos Santos were named to Mexico’s final 23-player roster. Alvarez, 19, made his debut for Mexico in a 1-0 win over Costa Rica on March 30, 2021. The Los Angeles, Calif., native has tallied one goal in nine games played (6 starts) for LA in 2021. Dos Santos, 31, has been called in 50 times by the Mexican national team, with his last start coming in the 1-0 victory over Costa Rica on March 30. In nine appearances (8 starts) for the Galaxy this season, the Monterrey, Mexico, native has scored one goal. 

Fisher, 29, has made 17 appearances (17 starts) for Jamaica since making his debut on Aug. 12, 2010. Fisher has appeared in four games (2 starts) for LA in league play this year. 

González, 33, was named to Costa Rica’s final 23-player roster and has made 83 appearances (80 starts) for the national team since making his debut against Slovakia on June 5, 2010. 

Lletget, 28, earns his first call-up for the USMNT since helping them win the 2021 Concacaf Nations League Finals on June 6. He has registered seven goals and two assists in 24 appearances (12 starts) for the USMNT since making his debut for the national team against Serbia on January 29, 2017. In seven games played during the 2021 MLS regular-season campaign, Lletget has notched one goal and two assists for the Galaxy.
