Former LA Galaxy forward Carlos Pavon was appointed head coach of Honduran side Marathon on Friday.


The all-time leading goal scorer for Los Catrachos replaces former manager Jairo Ríos after serving as the former head coach's assistant. Marathon are currently in fourth place in the Honduran Clausura with 10 points, which puts them three points behind first place Olimpia.


Pavon's 21-year professional career spanned six countries and 14 clubs. The 42-year-old spent the 2007 season with the LA Galaxy, making 18 appearances scoring and three goals.
