Four Former LA Galaxy Players Named 2026 National Soccer Hall of Fame Finalists

LOS ANGELES (September 8, 2026) – Four former LA Galaxy players were named 2026 National Soccer Hall of Fame Finalists for election to the Class of 2027. David Beckham, Robbie Keane, Clint Mathis, and Jermaine Jones each competed for the now six-time MLS Cup Champions during their MLS careers. Kevin Hartman, the LA Galaxy's current goalkeeper coach and former United States Men's National Team player, was also named a 2026 Veteran Ballot Semifinalist as part of the Hall of Fame selection process.

The full list of finalists includes 20 on the Player ballot, 10 on the Veteran ballot, and four on the Builder ballot. The Hall of Fame Voting Committees will meet over the next several weeks and then vote to select a maximum of six new members; as many as three Players and two Veterans can be selected, along with one Builder. The 2027 Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for April 16 in Frisco.

David Beckham (Veteran Ballot Finalist) spent six seasons with the LA Galaxy from 2007-2012, helping transform Major League Soccer during his time in Los Angeles. The former England captain appeared in 124 matches across all competitions for the Galaxy, recording 20 goals and 49 assists. Beckham helped lead LA to back-to-back Supporters' Shield titles (2010, 2011) and consecutive MLS Cup championships (2011, 2012), earning MLS Best XI honors and MLS Comeback Player of the Year recognition in 2011. 

Robbie Keane was named a Player Ballot Finalist after enjoying one of the most successful careers in LA Galaxy history. The Republic of Ireland international played for the Galaxy from 2011-16, tallying 104 goals across all competitions and helping the club win three MLS Cup titles (2011, 2012, 2014). Keane was named MLS MVP and MLS Cup MVP in 2014 and earned four MLS Best XI selections during his time in Los Angeles. He remains among the top scorers in club history and is widely regarded as one of the greatest forwards to play in MLS. 

Clint Mathis (Veteran Ballot Finalist) was selected by the LA Galaxy with the sixth overall pick in the 1998 MLS College Draft and spent parts of four seasons with the club. Across two stints in Los Angeles (1998-2000, 2010), Mathis appeared in 74 regular season matches for the Galaxy and scored 15 goals. A member of the U.S. Men's National Team at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Mathis earned 46 caps and scored 12 international goals during his career, becoming one of the most recognizable American players of his era.

Jermaine Jones (Player Ballot Finalist) was a midfielder for the LA Galaxy in 2017, the final season of his professional career. Jones appeared in 20 matches (19 starts) for the club, recording one goal and four assists. Prior to joining the Galaxy, Jones earned 69 caps for the U.S. Men's National Team and represented the United States at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where he scored against Portugal in the group stage.

Current LA Galaxy Goalkeeper Coach Kevin Hartman was also recognized in the Hall of Fame process, earning selection as a 2026 Veteran Ballot Semifinalist. Hartman spent 11 seasons with the Galaxy from 1997-2006 and remains one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in MLS history, helping LA win two MLS Cup championships, two U.S. Open Cups and a CONCACAF Champions' Cup during his playing career. Notably, Hartman represented the United States Men's National Team from his international debut in 1999 to 2006.
