LA Galaxy Academy defender Hugo Arellano earned a start as the U.S. U-17's opened the 2015 U-17 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 loss to Nigeria.
Arellano captained the squad who held the defending U-17 champions scoreless until Chukwudi Agor broke the deadlock in the 50th minute. Agor assisted on the Nigerians second goal just 11 minutes later as Victor Osimhen doubled the Super Eaglets lead. Fellow LA Galaxy Academy product Eric Lopez was an unused substitute in the defeat.
The Americans return to action on Tuesday against hosts Chile (1 p.m. PT/Fox Sports 2) at Estadio Sausalito.
