Galaxy around the globe: The list of LA Galaxy’s international call-ups for March FIFA dates

Robbie Keane

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy will have representatives suiting up for the international squads across the globe during the upcoming international window.

Gyasi Zardes was the sole Galaxy player named by Jurgen Klinsmann to the U.S. National Team’s squad for their matches against Denmark on Wednesday in Aarhus (12 p.m. PT – ESPN, WatchESPN, UniMas, Univision Deportes), and then Switzerland on March 31 in Zurich (Fox Sports 1, UniMas, UDN). During the camp, Zardes will look to solidify his spot on the USMNT after starting and notching an assist in the Americans’ last match, a 2-0 victory over Panama at StubHub Center in February.

As Zardes looks to lock down a greater role with the senior team, Galaxy homegrown player Oscar Sorto and LA Galaxy II forward Ariel Lassiter will take part in the U.S. U-23’s training camp in Bosnia & Herzegovina as the group prepares for Olympic qualifying later this year. The U.S. U-23’s will face Bosnia’s U-23 squad on March 27 at their home base in Tuzla, before travelling north to face Denmark on March 31. Both matches will not be televised or streamed, and can only be followed on Twitter via U.S. Soccer’s youth soccer handle @ussoccer_ynt in English and @ussoccer_esp in Spanish.

In conjunction with the senior squad and the U-23’s, the U.S. U-20’s who are led by Galaxy midfielder Bradford Jamieson IV will continue to set the groundwork for this fall’s U-20 World Cup in New Zealand by holding a training camp in England. During the seven-day camp, the U-20’s will play two matches as they take on Tottenham Hotspur’s U-21 team on March 27, and then England’s Under-21 Men’s National Team on March 29. As with the U-23’s, the U-20’s fixtures matches will not be televised or streamed, and can only be followed on Twitter via @ussoccer_ynt in English and @ussoccer_esp in Spanish.

As the U.S. teams prepare for future tournaments, Robbie Keane and the Republic of Ireland face a possibly do-or-die Euro2016 qualifier against Poland on March 29 in Dublin. The match promises to be a heated one as not only will the Boys in Green look to inch closer to the top of Group D, but the match is something of a local derby due to the large Polish population in Ireland.

Meanwhile, Jaime Penedo and Panama will begin their preparations for this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup in earnest with a pair of matches during the international window. Los Canaleros will first travel to Port of Spain for a match against Trinidad and Tobago on March 27. Penedo’s group will then return to Panama as they host rivals Costa Rica on March 31 in Panama City.
