Drawn into the ultra-competitive Group G with the 2014 World Cup winners, South Korea, and Sweden, Mexico is expected to contend for a berth in the knockout stages.

The squad led by head coach Juan Carlos Osorio faces their stiffest test first when they take on the Germans at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow (8 am PT, FOX/Telemundo). A match against a team of Germany’s caliber might give other teams pause, but according to Jona, Mexico is determined to go all out.

“We want to go as far as possible— to be champions," he told LAGalaxy.com. "We have always said, if you don’t go with that mindset then you won’t go far. We’re lucky that our coach has changed our mentality and our hope is to be champions.”

The tournament will be Giovani’s third for his nation, while his younger brother Jonathan will be making his first-ever appearance on the soccer’s grandest stage.

“It’s my third World Cup. People say it’s easy, but there have been many years of sacrifices and a lot of work put in.  But the truth is that I enjoy the process, and I’m thankful for my family for standing by me throughout the process," dos Santos said to LAGalaxy.com. "I hope that we make this a great World Cup for all of Mexico.”

Fans across Los Angeles will be able to watch the match at a pair of watch parties hosted by the LA Galaxy. All the information can be found below:
