CARSON, Calif. --  CONCACAF announced on Thursday that LA Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos and former LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena have been named to the shortlist for the federation's 2016 awards.

Dos Santos was selected as a finalist for the "Male Best XI midfielder" category after scoring 16 goals and 14 assists in all competitions for the Galaxy in 2016. In addition to earning his first career MLS All-Star nomination and the club's MVP award, he was also named to the league's Best XI for the first time.

In his ninth and final season with the club, Arena led the Galaxy to their eighth consecutive postseason appearance in 2016, earning himself a nomination for CONCACAF's coach of the year. The 65-year-old departed the Galaxy in late November to return to his previous post as head coach of the U.S. National Team.
