Giovani dos Santos fit for Portland Timbers clash as the LA Galaxy return to full fitness | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos says that he’s fit and ready to play in Sunday’s clash against the Portland Timbers.

Dos Santos aggravated the same right muscle injury that tormented him during the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the Galaxy’s 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders FC  two weeks ago. Due to LA’s bye week, the Mexican forward did not miss any time with the Galaxy, but was unable to play for Mexico in their CONCACAF Cup victory over the United States last Saturday.

Finally back to full fitness, Dos Santos says he’s good to go against the Timbers.

“I’m healthy now. I feel fit. I’ve been training three days with the team, and I haven’t had any problems. I think that I’m ready for Sunday’s game,” said Dos Santos, who admitted that he feels fit enough to go 90 minutes on Sunday. “If I don’t feel healthy enough I don’t want to put myself in a bad position. I am smart with that if I feel something tomorrow or during the game, I won’t risk my body.”

Dos Santos isn’t the only player returning from injury, however. Baggio Husidic (hamstring) Robbie Rogers (hip), Juninho and A.J. DeLaGarza are each trying to recover from their respective knocks.

The prognosis for all players appears to be positive as LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena noted that the Galaxy are the healthiest that they’ve been all season heading into the Timbers game.

“This is as close to us being healthy as [we've] been the whole year,” Arena said. “Most of our group is healthy right now. We haven’t ruled anyone out.”
