CARSON, Calif. -- After winning the league's player of the week honor following his brace against the Houston Dynamo, Giovani dos Santos is flying high, but the Mexican striker isn't resting on his laurels.
Dos Santos will look to build on his strong performance in Houston on Saturday when the Galaxy host the league's lone undefeated club, Real Salt Lake. The 26-year-old striker may be in good form heading into Saturday's clash, but he is undoubtedly expecting a challenge from RSL.
"We’ve been working really hard. I feel more confident because the team won and I scored two goals. I was the same Gio one month ago," Dos Santos told reporters earlier in the week. "I think [Real Salt Lake has] been very solid. They have been defending very well. They have a good striker. It’s going to be a very exciting game."
Although Salt Lake have received plenty of deserved plaudits for being the only undefeated team remaining in MLS, the Galaxy find themselves on a four-game unbeaten run. Despite their relatively fast start, however, Dos Santos says the Galaxy still have plenty to refine to contend for a title.
"We need to keep working," he said. "We know we have a great team and our goal is to be champions."
