Giovani dos Santos to receive a brief rest after 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup participation | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Giovani dos Santos wrapped up the Confederations Cup, and the LA Galaxy’s Mexican star is in line for a brief respite before he returns to fold for head coach Curt Onalfo’s squad.

The 28-year-old Mexican international made three appearances during Mexico’s fourth-place finish in Russia, while also starting in El Tri’s World Cup qualifier against Honduras last month. After a month away from the team, dos Santos will receive a break as he decompresses from a taxing Confederations Cup tournament.

“He’s been gone for 38 days with the national team,” Onalfo who ruled dos Santos out for Tuesday's game said. “We have to look at giving him some time to physically and mentally get over being gone for so long and assess him and where we are as we approach next week.”
