Gyasi Zardes in line for rest after lengthy Copa America campaign with the United States | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy forward Gyasi Zardes’ participation in the Copa America Centenario is complete, but don’t expect the striker to participate in Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup clash with the Portland Timbers.

Zardes started in all six games for the Americans at the Copa America, playing all but a single minute of the USMNT’s fourth-place performance. With the Galaxy facing an Open Cup match in Portland on Wednesday and the annual Fourth of July match on Monday against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Zardes is in line for a rest according to Galaxy boss Bruce Arena.

“We’re going to give Gyasi a break,” Arena told LAGalaxy.com. “For whatever reason, he played basically every minute of every game. He’s exhausted and needs a break, and I told him not to come in until Friday.”
