CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy have bolstered their defense with the signing of Pele van Anholt.

LA Galaxy Insider can confirm that the Galaxy have acquired the Dutch-born right-back who was last with Eredivisie club Willem II. ESPN FC’s Jeffrey Carlisle reported the news first.

Van Anholt arrived in Los Angeles on Monday and is set for a medical Tuesday, July 11 at StubHub Center. The outside back will train at StubHub Center starting Wednesday and then join first team training Thursday ahead of this weekend’s friendly match with Manchester United.

The 26-year-old made 24 appearances in all competitions for Willem II a year ago. Prior his stint with the club, Van Anholt spent six seasons with SC Heerenveen, scoring twice in 149 appearances.
