CARSON, Calif. – Jelle Van Damme was all smiles after being named LA Galaxy Defender of the Year and LA Riot Squad Player of the Year on Sunday.

Van Damme went 90 minutes for the Galaxy in their regular season finale against FC Dallas which ended with a scoreless draw. Following the match, the Belgian central defender was presented with the Galaxy’s Defender of the Year honor –voted on by the team’s media—and the Riot Squad Player of the Year, which is chosen by the supporters’ group.

“It’s good. It’s always nice to be recognized for the stuff you do,” Van Damme said. “I appreciate those things. And at the end, I want to win the big team prizes, but it’s always good to win some individual things as well.”
