CARSON, Calif. – If there was any doubt that Jelle Van Damme is one of the best defenders in Major League Soccer, the Belgian center back put those thoughts to bed with an incredible performance against Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday.
Van Damme was named to MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week on Monday for the second week in a row after making two clearances off the line to help the Galaxy earn a 1-1 draw on the road in Seattle. In addition to his two last-ditch plays, Van Damme made four interceptions and three clearances in the tie.
