LOS ANGELES (Friday, June 26, 2020) – The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has acquired 20-year-old Panamanian midfielder Carlos Harvey on loan from LA Galaxy II. Harvey, who helped lead Panama’s U-20 World Cup side past the group stage for the first time in history and also earned honors on USL’s 20 Under 20 list in 2019, is currently with the club on loan from Panama’s Tauro F.C. He will be added to the Galaxy’s roster pending approval of his P-1 Visa.
“Carlos is a young and promising player who has impressed during his time on loan with the club,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. “We think he can contribute in our upcoming competitions while he continues to develop as a player. We are pleased to add him to our squad.”
Born in Panama City, Panama, Harvey made his professional debut with Tauro F.C. of Liga Panameña de Fútbol in July 2018. He joined LA Galaxy II on loan last season before making 19 appearances – all starts – and becoming a key component of the Los Dos midfield.
Internationally, Harvey earned his first senior call up with the Panama National Team for a friendly against the U.S. Men’s National Team on Jan. 27, 2019 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Prior to his senior debut, Harvey made six appearances, five starts and provided one assist for the Panama U-20 National Team during the 2018 U-20 Concacaf Championship. Additionally, he started in all three group matches for Panama in the U-20 World Cup in 2019, helping Panama advance past the group stage for the first time in the history of the tournament.
The LA Galaxy will compete in Group F of the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, Florida, which is set to begin on July 8. The Galaxy will play group stage matches against the Portland Timbers, Houston Dynamo and LAFC, who round out Group F.
