LA Galaxy Announce Sigi Schmid to be Inducted in Ring of Honor at Dignity Health Sports Park for LA Night on Saturday, Oct. 14

LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023) – The LA Galaxy today announced programming details for their home match against Real Salt Lake on LA Night, presented by Sherwin-Williams, at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, Oct. 14 (7:30 p.m. PT; Free on Apple TV, LA Galaxy Radio, LA Galaxy Spanish Radio).

Giveaway
Ten thousand Sigi Schmid scarves will be given away to fans as they enter the gates at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Alumni Autographs
Fans will be able to receive autographs from Galaxy alumni in SoccerFest from 6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. PT, with fans encouraged to line up inside on the south side of the Tennis Stadium. Alumni in attendance will be Carlos Ruiz (Ruiz available only from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. PT), Jose Villarreal, Danny Pena, Bryan Jordan, Matt Reis, McKinley Tennyson, Isaias Bardales, Jr., John Garvey and Leonardo.

Honoring Sigi Schmid
A special halftime recognition in honor of Sigi Schmid will take place as the club will induct the former head coach of the LA Galaxy into the Ring of Honor at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Retail
New for this match will be the Día de Los Muertos scarf, which will be available for all LA Galaxy Team Store locations while supplies last.

SoccerFest & NW Pad
The LA Galaxy Foundation will be highlighting Long Beach United and Juglife Foundation at SoccerFest. Long Beach United runs a soccer league for kids who live in lower income areas of Long Beach while also exposing them to volunteer work in the community. Juglife Foundation is committed to bringing awareness to the lifestyle that drinking water can provide and emphasize the need to appreciate, conserve and promote water for a successful life. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the LA Galaxy partnered with Sherwin-Williams and local artist Marlene Solorio to create artwork which was given away at the Galaxy’s last home match. Solorio will attend Saturday’s match to meet and greet fans. Cozmo’s Cadets, the LA Galaxy Foundation and LA Galaxy Programming will have their usual booths at SoccerFest, with Volkswagen, Fiji Airways, AYSO and Long Beach United also in attendance. The NW Pad, located outside the NW stadium gate, will have Kinecta, Volkswagen, the LA Galaxy Merch Truck on site. The LA Galaxy Foundation cleat drive will also be taking place in the NW Pad, with fans encouraged to drop off their donations of cleats in adult men’s sizes 6-11 at this location.

LA Galaxy Foundation
The LA Galaxy Foundation will be auctioning off player-signed adidas LA Galaxy MLS Hispanic Heritage Month Pre-Match Jerseys. The online auction will open on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 p.m. PT and will close at the 75th minute of the match. Fans can text GALAXY to 76278 to bid. The Community Partner of the Match, Long Beach United, will be at SoccerFest. The LA Galaxy Foundation will be running a cleat drive located on the Northwest Pad. Fans are encouraged to bring gently used cleats, in adult men’s sizes 6-11, that will be donated to kids on the Long Beach United team. The Hero of the Match is World War II veteran radioman First Class William Dillon of the United States Navy. He served on the USS Sailfish SS-192 and earned several awards which include two bronze stars, the Presidential Unit Citation and the World War II Victory Medal.

Cocktail Of The Match
Saturday’s Cocktail of the Match is the Signature Galaxy Margarita, which features Corazón Blanco Tequila served in the signature Galaxy cocktail shaker cup at all full bar locations.

Postgame Fireworks
Following the match between the Galaxy and Real Salt Lake, fans in attendance will be able to enjoy postgame fireworks.

Extra Time
DJ Black Sheep will be performing for fans at Extra Time, the LA Galaxy’s post-match party in the American Express Stadium Club, following the game.

Saturday’s MLS Regular Season match between the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake marks the 58th meeting across all competitions between the Galaxy and Real Salt Lake, with LA leading the all-time series 24-20-13. Against RSL, the Galaxy hold a 20-17-11 record in league play, a 4-1-2 record in the MLS Cup Playoffs and a 0-2-0 record in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. In the last meeting against Real Salt Lake in league play this season, the Galaxy earned a 3-2 come-from-behind win at America First Field on May 31. In 24 regular-season match played at home against Real Salt Lake, the Galaxy hold a 14-7-3 record. Notably, LA is unbeaten in its last six home matches played (4-0-2; 10 GF, 4 GA) against RSL dating back to Sept. 30, 2017.
