LA Galaxy forward Joseph Paintsil has been named to Major League Soccer's Team of the Matchday for Matchday 22 following his brace against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 4.
This season, Paintsil has three goals and one assist in 14 games played (12 starts). Friday’s brace saw him score for a second straight game at Dignity Health Sports Park after finding the net in the Galaxy’s 2-0 win against Real Salt Lake on May 31.
In the Galaxy’s 3-0 win on Friday night, Paintsil found the back of the net twice in the second half after Matheus Nascimento put the Galaxy ahead in the first half. Paintsil’s first goal of the night came in the 60th minute when the Ghanian curled home a right-footed shot from the top of the box.
Then, 17 minutes later, Paintsil buried a penalty to put the game away for the Galaxy and secure a second straight win at home.
In three career matches played against Vancouver, Paintsil has recorded four goals and one assist.
Paintsil last made an MLS Team of the Matchday when he was named to the Matchday 28 Team of the Matchday on July 21, 2024 for a 1 goal, 2 assist performance against the Portland Timbers.
