LA Galaxy II defender Jefrey Payeras has been called up for international duty by the Guatemalan national team. It will make for Payeras' first involvement with the Guatemalan senior team. Guatemala is scheduled to face Panama in a friendly on August 10 in Panama.
Payeras, 22, joined Los Dos in March and has been a key starter at centerback for the team since his arrival. In previous years, Payeras has trained with the Guatemalan U-20s and played with the Guatemalan U-23s.
Born in Hawthorne, Calif., Payeras has Guatemalan citizenship by way of his parents who are both native to Santa Rosa in Guatemala.
