LA Galaxy II Match Recap: LA Galaxy II 3-1 Monterey Bay FC

LOS ANGELES (Saturday, April 16, 2022) – Playing their third match at home during the 2022 USL Championship Regular Season, LA Galaxy II earned a 3-1 win over expansion side Monterey Bay FC at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday night. Michael Salazar and Duhaney Williams each tallied a goal and an assist in the win over Monterey, while Preston Judd tallied his second goal of the 2022 campaign. 

Goal-Scoring Plays
LA – Michael Salazar (Duhaney Williams), 39th minute: Duhaney Williams’ low cross from the right found Michael Salazar in space and his finish squeezed home into the right side of the net.

LA – Duhaney Williams (Cameron Dunbar), 57th minute: Los Dos doubled their lead 12 minutes into the second half as Duhaney Williams bundled home from close range after controlling a cross from the right by Dunbar

MB – Seku Conneh (Morey Doner), 68th minute: Monterey Bay pulled a goal back in the 68th minute when Seku Conneh produced a diving header to the left corner off a cross by Morey Doner.

LA – Preston Judd (Michael Salazar), 86th minute: Preston Judd latched onto a pass from Salazar and fended off the Monterey defender and spun away from the Monterey defender before shooting low into the left corner of the goal. 

Postgame Notes

Saturday’s match marked the first-ever meeting between LA Galaxy II and Monterey Bay FC. 

LA Galaxy II (2-3-1, 7 points) sit in eight place in the Western Conference standings. 

LA improved to 2-1-0 in three matches played at Dignity Health Sports Park during the 2022 campaign. 

Michael Salazar tallied his second goal and assist of the 2022 campaign in the win over Monterey. 

Salazar led GII with a team-high three chances created against Monterey. 

Duhaney Williams tallied his first professional goal and assist in the win against Monterey. 

Preston Judd tallied his second goal of the season for Galaxy II. 

Taylor Davila, Salazar, Liam Doyle, Cameron Dunbar, Preston Judd and Owen Lambe have appeared in every match this season for LA. 

Jalen Neal led Los Dos with 101 attempted passes and 93 completed passes, finishing with a 92% pass accuracy.  

LA Galaxy Academy defender Felipe Cobian made his professional debut for Galaxy II, starting and playing 90 minutes against Monterey. 

Cobian finished the match tied for a team-high seven recoveries. 

Eric López registered three saves and his second shutout and win of the season in the victory over Monterey.
