On the team collecting three points:
“I’m really, really happy for the team. Obviously it’s been a tough couple weeks. We asked for a response, we asked for a reaction. Even going a goal down, the boys fought for 90 minutes and we thoroughly deserved to get the three points today.”
On what he told his team at halftime down 1-0:
“Stick to the game plan. We felt that because the way the Red Bulls try to press, we needed to connect that first and second pass out of transition. But most importantly, if we can connect that first and second pass and we can move forward, we really think that we can hurt them. And you saw it with the number of times we were able to get in behind today and it was all because of that ability to play out of transition forward.”
On what the win does for the side:
“It definitely picks up spirits and morale. But it’s not going to change anything in terms of the way we’re going to keep teaching these kids. Wins help because it helps justify the process, but once again, we just keep building off this.”
