LA Galaxy II sign forward Adonis Amaya to new contract

21-year-old forward Adonis Amaya has signed a new contract with LA Galaxy II, the club announced today.

Amaya, of Westminster, Calif., inks a new contract ahead of his fourth season with LA Galaxy II. He initially turned pro with Los Dos in 2015 at the age of 18.

“Adonis has proven himself to be a threatening piece of our attack,” said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz. “We were disappointed to see last season come to an early end for him, but he’s recovering well and we’re confident that he’ll be a key piece of our 2018 team.”

Amaya has made 46 appearances for the club since his signing in 2015. In 2017, he scored two goals in 11 appearances before tearing his MCL mid-season on July 9 against Portland Timbers 2.

An LA Galaxy Academy product, Amaya was named U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s West Player of the Year in 2014 as a member of the Galaxy U-18 side. He scored 25 goals during the year, leading his team to a first-place finish in USSDA’s Southwest Division.
