CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Oct. 12, 2015) –LA Galaxy II will face Rochester Rhinos in the 2015 USL Championship this Friday, Oct. 16 at 4:30 p.m. PT at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester, New York, streamed live on www.lagalaxy.com.
Los Dos have advanced to the USL Championship match for the first time in the club’s two-year history. The have gone 3-0-0 during their 2015 USL Playoff run, earning wins over Sacramento Republic FC, Orange County Blues FC and OKC Energy FC in their three postseason competitions. Goalkeeper Clement Diop has allowed just one goal in three playoff matches this season.
Led by head coach Bob Lilley, Rochester Rhinos finished the season first in USL, going 17-1-10 (61 points) during regular season play, including a perfect 12-0-2 record in matches at Sahlen’s Stadium. Rochester allowed a USL low 15 goals from opponents during their 28 matches played. Christian Volesky and Steevan Dos Santos each scored eight goals during the regular season.
On Sunday, LA Galaxy II defeated OKC Energy FC 2-1 in the USL Western Conference Final Sunday evening at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City thanks to goals from Ariel Lassiter and Andre Auras. Lassiter has now tallied three goals in two matches for Los Dos during postseason play.
LA Galaxy II finished the USL Regular Season in fifth place in Western Conference standings with a 14-11-3 record to qualify for the USL Playoffs for the second-straight year. They are led in goals by forward Ariel Lassiter, who has scored 15 times between the USL Regular Season and USL Playoffs. LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Raul Mendiola has added 10 total assists for Los Dos on the year, with Jack McBean contributing six goals and six assists in all competitions. LA Galaxy II have recorded the best road record in USL, going 11-6-0 in all competitions including regular season and playoffs.
