LA Galaxy II forward Ethan Zubak signed his first professional contract with LA Galaxy II on May 19, 2016. The Academy standout featured extensively for Los Dos this season, making 22 appearances and tallying two goals and one assist for the club. His first professional goal came against Real Monarchs on April 2. With plenty of game experience under his belt now, Zubak says he’s ready for an “outburst” in 2017.
How did you improve this season?
“This season was mostly tactical improvement for me. You can get away with it at youth levels, using athleticism and physical ability to dominate on the field. But this year my tactical ability, my soccer IQ just really improved. And now it’s helping me just get into the game more.”
What was one of your favorite moments of the season?
“I’d say my favorite moment of the season was probably scoring my first goal. It was a really good game and it made me think that I belong out there. Hitting the back of the net is always a good feeling and it kind of made me excited for the rest of the season just continuing to progress.”
What are your expectations for 2017?
“For 2017, I just want to really have an outburst. I want the team to do really well and I want to contribute to the team and I want to score goals. I just want to make a push to the next level and for the team to get to the next level and to just take another step ahead.”
