LA Galaxy looking for answers after defeat in Seattle: "There’s nothing we’re not going to look at. We’ll look at everything"

SEATTLE – The LA Galaxy couldn’t hide their disappointment on Saturday following a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Seattle Sounders FC.

The defeat tied the worst loss in club history, equaling marks set in 2013 and 2002. In 722 total regular season games, it was only the eighth time that Los Angeles conceded five or more times.

After a crushing loss, the Galaxy are looking for answers.

“We need to be angry. We have eight games to go. We need to make the playoffs. I think if we win four we are in. Five for sure, I would say, just with the history of the points,” midfielder Perry Kitchen said. “We need to be angry, we need to be up for it. We have a huge game on Friday against our cross-town rival. We have to be much better than we were today.”

Added head coach Sigi Schmid, “There’s nothing we’re not going to look at. We’ll look at everything. This is an emotional moment right after the game so we just have to let calmer heads prevail, sleep on it, think about it and then make decisions.”

Following their loss, the Galaxy finds themselves in fifth place in the Western Conference with eight games remaining in the 2018 campaign.

The Galaxy have little time to dwell on their defeat in the Emerald City as they host LAFC in the final match between the two teams this regular season. Although Saturday’s display was “embarrassing” for the side, midfielder Sebastian Lletget says they need to remember their frustration when they take the field again Friday.

“We still have games left. We have a big game on Friday. They're things that we obviously need to get better at. You know we have to start in training, as soon as we get back in LA," Lletget said. "It is the only thing we could do as a team, we have to regroup. In a way we can’t forget about today, of course, you want to forget, but of course, we need to learn what we did wrong. As a group, it needs to be much better, and we know that.”
