LA Galaxy on the mend heading into match against Real Salt Lake

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid could be welcoming back a full complement of his players for their match against Real Salt Lake.

The Galaxy have been bitten by the injury bug with key contributors Giovani dos Santos, Romain Alessandrini, Jona dos Santos, and Michael Ciani missing time in recent weeks. Ahead of what Schmid describes as a “six-point” matchup at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, the Galaxy boss believes that every player should be ready for Salt Lake.

“It gives you choices,” Schmid said. “We’re in a situation where we have some options, but we have to consider everything.”

One such player who could return to action is Alessandrini, who trained for the first full time on Thursday. Sidelined with a knee injury against Minnesota, the talented Frenchman who has scored eight goals and five assists this season.

“After that, the MRI gave me some good news. That’s why I’m more confident right now, even if it’s a little bit painful. The ligament and meniscus (cartilage) are good, that’s the important thing,” Alessandrini said. “It’s the last seven games, so I have to give everything for my team,” he said. “I try to give the best I can. Step by step I need to come back and help the team get in the playoff.”
