LA Galaxy Midfielder Marco Reus has been named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday for Matchday 14 following the German’s two-goal outing at Dignity Health Sports Park in a 2-2 draw against LAFC on Sunday night.
Reus opened the scoring on Sunday night in the sixth minute, finding himself in the right place at the right time in front of goal to knock home the opener. In the 87th minute, Reus stepped over a free kick just outside the top of the box and struck it into the bottom right corner past LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
The performance in El Tráfico caps off a strong spell for Reus, who has six goal contributions (3 goals, 3 assists) in his last five matches played, dating back to April 27. The draw against LAFC also marked a second consecutive match with two goal contributions when Reus tallied two assists on the Galaxy’s two goals at the Philadelphia Union on May 14.
Sunday night was Reus’ second ever match against the Galaxy’s crosstown rivals. He now has four goal contributions, adding the two goals to his two assists against LAFC on Sept. 14, 2024 when the Galaxy won 4-2 en route to winning their sixth MLS Cup.
