LOS ANGELES (September 7, 2026) – MLS announced today that LA Galaxy midfielder Marco Reus has been named to the Team of the Matchday for Matchday 24 following his performance in the club’s 2-1 victory over Eastern Conference side New England Revolution at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Inside 10 minutes of game action, Reus played a long through ball ahead of Kyōgo Furuhashi to spark a counter, leading to a foul in the box that resulted in a penalty in favor of the Galaxy. Captain Reus stepped up to the spot and buried the ball down the middle with his right foot to open the scoring on the night. Then just past the half-hour mark, Reus orchestrated the game-winning counter, playing Hiving Lozano into the box on the left side, who then played the ball back across the box with his second touch to Robert Taylor for the strike to put LA in front for the remainder of the match.
Reus has now all but equaled his 2025 regular season output (five goals, nine assists) with 10 matches still to play in the campaign. Through just over two-thirds of the season, the German international has now registered five goals and eight assists. In addition, his performance against New England was the third time across all competitions in which he has recorded two or more goal contributions in a single game this season. Overall, Reus has contributed to a club-leading 15 goals across all competitions so far in 2026 (six goals, nine assists).
