(Monday, Jan. 25, 2016) – The LA Galaxy will train this week ahead of the team’s first official competition of 2016, an exhibition match at StubHub Center this Saturday, Jan. 30, against FC Shirak, which kicks off at 7 p.m. PT. The club will hold its first media availability of 2016 at StubHub Center on Wednesday, Jan. 27, following the team’s training session.
The Galaxy face FC Shirak for the second time in club history, recording a 2-1 win over the Armenian side in 2014 behind goals from forward Gyasi Zardes and former Galaxy striker Samuel at StubHub Center in front of a crowd of more than 12,000 to witness the preseason exhibition. Andy, the Armenian-Iranian singer, will perform at halftime of Saturday’s match.
The friendly will serve to prepare the Galaxy for their matchup against Santos Laguna in the quarterfinals of the 2015/16 edition of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, the region’s premier competition for clubs. The Galaxy host Santos on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at StubHub Center beginning at 7 p.m. PT in the first leg of the series. In the second leg of the quarterfinals, the Galaxy will travel to Estadio Corona in Torreon, Mexico to face Laguna on Tuesday, March 1, at 7 p.m. PT.
