LA Galaxy rocket up power rankings after latest big win | INSIDER

Emmanuel Boateng

CARSON, Calif. -- The hottest team in Major League Soccer is making a major move up the three most noteworthy MLS power rankings.

The Galaxy who are unbeaten in five games topped the Sports Illustrated power rankings after their 5-2 victory over previously undefeated Real Salt Lake. Los Angeles also checked in third in both of the ESPN FC and MLSsoccer.com rankings.

The rankings and their explanations can be found below.

"For as dominating a performance as the Galaxy had against Real Salt Lake on Saturday night, it's hard to believe that they were actually down a goal at the beginning of their 5-2 win. After conceding, the Galaxy showed the type of team performance they need more of in the absence of Robbie Keane."

"Just about everything went right for the Galaxy against RSL, from Gyasi Zardes' accidental assist to Giovani dos Santos' sublime chip to Steven Gerrard scoring the capper. But the best night belonged to Emmanuel Boateng, whose speed netted him a goal along with two assists."

"When are we going to learn our lesson? Every year somehow starts with everyone feeling like the Galaxy are about to have that down year that’s been long coming. And then they go and turn it on and have a game like Saturday’s."
