LA Galaxy’s 20 For Twenty continues Thursday, November 5, at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Oct. 30, 2015) – LA Galaxy’s 20 for Twenty will continue Thursday, Nov. 5, with the LA Galaxy Volunteer Day at Los Angeles Regional Food Bank that will see the entire organization – LA Galaxy, LA Galaxy II, LA Galaxy Academy and staff – volunteer alongside LA Galaxy fans to help distribute food from 1:00-4:30 p.m. PT.



To join the LA Galaxy in the fight against hunger on Nov. 5, fans can sign up to participate alongside LA Galaxy front office staff and players by using "Galaxy5" as the password. The event is open to the public, with over 200 total volunteers expected to attend.


LA Galaxy staff and players will help fight hunger while spending their day preparing meals for families, seniors, and individuals in need in the Los Angeles County. While there, food items will be sorted and prepared for packaging for families in preparation for the holidays. Scheduled to attend are LA Galaxy President Chris Klein, LA Galaxy 2015 Humanitarian of the Year Todd Dunivant and midfielder Rafael Garcia, in addition to LA Galaxy II players, members of the LA Galaxy Academy and members of the LA Galaxy supporters groups, LA Riot Squad and Angel City Brigade.


The LA Galaxy Foundation recently hosted a successful weeklong food drive at StubHub Center on October 12-18, collecting over 1,150 lbs. of food, with help from LA Galaxy front office staff, players, fans, LA Galaxy South Bay and Timbers Army.


Collecting and distributing food in the community since 1973, The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has been feeding L.A. for more than 40 years. With nearly 30,000 people volunteering at the Food Bank each year, over one billions pounds of food have been distributed. Also with the help of 700 agencies partnering with the Food Bank, they have been able to serve 1 million people each year. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’s mission is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in the LA community. 


20 for Twenty is a year-long initiative featuring the implementation of 20 unique community service acts to celebrate the Galaxy’s 20th season in Major League Soccer. The Galaxy Foundation has previously hosted a Build Day with Habitat of Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, participated in Read Across America, visited partners CHLA, worked with Heal the Bay to help clean Redondo Beach and participated in the March of Dimes, March for Babies, hosted a Women’s Soccer Seminar to date, competed with the Special Olympics Unified Soccer Team, among others.
