LA Galaxy Sign Goalkeeper Simon Jillson to Short-Term Loan

LOS ANGELES (Friday, April 21, 2023) – The LA Galaxy today announced that the club has signed goalkeeper Simon Jillson to a short-term loan from MLS NEXT Pro affiliate LA Galaxy II. 

Jillson, 23, joins the Galaxy after being signed to the club’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate LA Galaxy II. In four appearances (4 starts) for Galaxy II during the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro, Jillson has posted a 1-3-0 record and recorded 16 saves. The Chicago, Ill., native played three seasons of collegiate soccer at Loyola University Chicago (2018-22), where he made 31 appearances (28 starts) and posted 11 shutouts and 66 saves. During the 2022 campaign, Jillson posted eight shutouts in 18 matches played.

Per MLS rules, the Short-Term Contract allows clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League and exhibition matches. A player can sign a maximum of four Short-Term Contracts per season and appear in no more than two league season matches.
