CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy are continuing to stay at the top of the MLS Power Rankings as the lead heads down the stretch run.
Bruce Arena’s men extended their unbeaten run to six games on Sunday with a 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City. Alan Gordon notched his second goal in as many games and Landon Donovan signaled his return to action with a dramatic equalizer late in the match to help Los Angeles steal a point in the Paris of the Plains.
Los Angeles moved up to third in MLSsoccer.com’s rankings, while they held firm on both the SI.com and ESPN FC lists with rankings of fourth and fifth respectively.
The rankings can be found below:
"The Power Rankings politburo is still wondering why Giovani dos Santos didn't play on Sunday, but it appears Landon Donovan might just be the super sub the Galaxy need to complete their Race to Seis. Who is going to bet against Bruce, LD, Keano, GDS and LA in the playoffs? Anyone?"
"The Galaxy’s draw against Sporting Kansas City extends the team’s unbeaten run to six games, but four of those six have been ties. If Landon Donovan can keep making big plays like he did against KC, though, Los Angeles’ draw problem may go away just in time for the playoffs."
"Landon Donovan scored the equalizer in LA's 2-2 draw against Sporting Kansas City, his first competitive goal in 679 days. Of course, he spent most of those days retired."
