CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Oct. 19, 2015) – The LA Galaxy will travel to Guatemala for a 2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League group stage match against Comunicaciones this Wednesday, Oct. 21 (7 p.m. PT, FOX Soccer Plus) before facing Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Sporting Park in the final match of the 2015 MLS Regular Season (4 p.m. PT, ESPN, ESPN Deportes).
The Galaxy have won Group D with 11 goals and a 2-0-1 record with seven points in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League ahead of Wednesday’s match against Comunicaciones. In their first meeting at StubHub Center, the Galaxy defeated Comunicaciones, 5-0. In all time SCCL competition, the Galaxy are 15-8-4, scoring 51 goals and allowing 31. The Galaxy also lead all U.S. teams in SCCL wins (15) and goals scored (51).
LA has gone 24-19-11 all-time against Sporting Kansas City in MLS matches, scoring 82 goals in the 44 meetings head to head. The Galaxy are 8-14-5 against SKC in road matches all time and will look for their first win at Sporting Park, going 0-2-1 in the three matches played there previously. In their most recent contest, the Galaxy earned a 2-1 win over SKC at StubHub Center behind a stoppage-time goal from Omar Gonzalez on April 18.
The Galaxy fell to Portland Timbers FC, 5-2 Sunday night at StubHub Center. LA is now 14-10-9 with 51 points and currently in second place in MLS Western Conference standings.
With a win on Sunday, the Galaxy can clinch the second place spot in the Western Conference ahead of the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs, avoiding a game in the Knockout Round of postseason play.
