LA Galaxy travel north for California Clasico against San Jose | Weekly Schedule

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Aug. 24, 2015) – The LA Galaxy will travel this week for the California Clasico when they face the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium this Friday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. PT live on UniMas. LA Galaxy II travel for an away match against Arizona United SC on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m. PT.

In the California Clasico, the Galaxy have earned a 28-19-12 record against their Northern California rivals in MLS, scoring 95 goals. Saturday’s match will mark the final of four matches in all competitions between the two sides this year. In their first contest, the Galaxy fell 3-1 to the Earthquakes at Stanford Stadium on June 27. LA then defeated San Jose in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 at Avaya Stadium on July 1 behind a first-half goal from Jose Villarreal. In their most recent meeting, the Galaxy earned a 5-2 victory at StubHub Center behind two goals from Robbie Keane in midfielder Steven Gerrard’s MLS debut.

In their most recent contest, the LA Galaxy defeated New York City FC 5-1 in front of a sold-out crown at StubHub Center Sunday afternoon to move to 13-7-7 on the season (46 points), putting them atop both Western Conference and Supporters Shield standings in Major League Soccer.
With five goals against NYCFC, the Galaxy became the first team in MLS history to score 1,000 goals all time during the MLS Regular Season. With the win, LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena now has 112 wins with the LA Galaxy, tying Dominic Kinnear (Houston Dynamo) and Steve Nicol (New England Revolution) for the most wins all time with one team in MLS history. The Galaxy continue to lead Major League Soccer in scoring this year with 49 on the season, while allowing 32 for an MLS-best +17 goal differential.
