LA Galaxy II remain at Dignity Health Sports Park after opening the 2021 USL Championship Regular Season on Friday night in a 1-0 defeat to Sacramento Republic FC. On Wednesday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. PT, Los Dos host Las Vegas Lights FC in their second contest of the season.


Los Dos are undefeated vs. Las Vegas in their previous seven contests, earning four wins and three draws during that span. In their most recent match, LA Galaxy II earned a 2-2 draw on the road in Nevada on Sept. 26, 2020 behind goals from Augustine Williams and Jonathan Perez. Wednesday evening marks Lights FC’s opening match of the 2021 USL Championship season.


In 2020, Los Dos finished the regular season 8-6-2 with 26 points (4-3-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road), earning them second place in Group B standings and clinching a berth in the USL Championship Playoffs for the second-straight season.


Head Coach Junior Gonzalez holds an 15-12-6 record throughout his head coaching tenure with LA Galaxy II and has led the team to two-consecutive playoff appearances. In the seven years of USL Championship competition, Los Dos have qualified for playoffs five times, in addition to a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015.


United Soccer League will feature 31 teams set to play 496 regular season contests over 28 weeks ahead of the 2021 USL Championship Playoffs that begin in November. The opening weekend begins a 32-game regular season for every club in the league that will see each team in both the Eastern and Western Conferences play its division opponents four times – twice home, twice away.


The regular season will conclude on Saturday, October 30 with 15 contests that will see the final playoff places and seeding decided ahead of postseason.


LA Galaxy II will compete in the USL Championship Western Conference Pacific Division for the 2021 campaign alongside the following clubs: Las Vegas Lights FC, Oakland Roots SC, Orange County SC, Phoenix Rising FC, Sacramento Republic FC, San Diego Loyal SC and Tacoma Defiance.
