Entering Week 20 of the 2021 USL Championship campaign, LA Galaxy II play host to Sacramento Republic FC at Dignity Health Sports Park on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 7:30 p.m. PT live on ESPN+.

This year, Los Dos are 6-9-4 (22 points), with 31 goals scored and 35 conceded for a -4 goal differential. In their most recent match, Los Dos earned a 3-2 win over 10-man Las Vegas Lights FC on Aug. 27. Preston Judd and Jorge Hernández tallied goals, while Remi Cabral notched the game-winning goal for LA in the win over Las Vegas. 

During the 2021 campaign, Judd has nine goals in the USL Championship, the most of any Galaxy II player and tied for seventh in the league. Additionally, Hernández ranks second on LA with eight goals scored, including leading the league with 56 chances created. Goalkeeper Justin vom Steeg leads the team with three shutouts and 35 saves in 13 appearances in 2021. Josh Drack ranks tied for sixth in the USL Championship with six assists. Notably, LA Galaxy II acquired Gerson Chávez on loan from Real C.D. España on Aug. 13 for the remainder of the 2021 USL Championship regular season.

Wednesday’s match marks the second meeting between LA and Sacramento in 2021, with LA trailing the series 0-1-0. In the first meeting between the two clubs in 2021, Los Dos fell 1-0 at home to Sacramento on April 30. LA and Republic FC play twice more in Sacramento this season, next playing on Sept. 26, before meeting once again on Oct. 13.  

In 2020, Los Dos finished the regular season 8-6-2 with 26 points (4-3-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road), earning them second place in Group B standings and clinching a berth in the USL Championship Playoffs for the second-straight season.

Head Coach Junior Gonzalez holds a 20-21-9 record throughout his head coaching tenure with LA Galaxy II and has led the team to two-consecutive playoff appearances. In the seven years of USL Championship competition, Los Dos have qualified for playoffs five times, in addition to a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015. 

LA Galaxy II compete in the USL Championship Western Conference Pacific Division for the 2021 campaign alongside the following clubs: Las Vegas Lights FC, Oakland Roots SC, Orange County SC, Phoenix Rising FC, Sacramento Republic FC, San Diego Loyal SC and Tacoma Defiance.
