Saturday’s match marks the 42nd all-time meeting across all competitions between the LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo FC with LA leading the series 17-14-10. Against Houston, the Galaxy hold a 13-14-10 record in league play, a 1-0-0 record in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and a 3-0-0 record in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. In the first meeting between the two teams this season, the Galaxy fell 3-0 on the road to the Dynamo at Shell Energy Stadium on April 8. In 17 regular-season matches played at home against Houston, the Galaxy hold a 6-5-6 record. The last time LA defeated Houston at Dignity Health Sports Park, Zlatan Ibrahimovic recorded a goal in a 2-1 win on April 19, 2019.
With the 3-2 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Aug. 30, the Galaxy improved to 5-1-4 (21 GF, 15 GA) in their last 10 regular season matches played dating back to May 31. Following a 3-0 shutout win over Chicago Fire FC on Aug. 26, LA extended its unbeaten run to four league matches played at home (3-0-1; 10 GF, 4 GA) dating back to June 21.
