LA Galaxy II travel to face Oakland Roots SC at Merritt College on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 2:00 p.m. PT live on ESPN+.

This year, Los Dos are 5-8-4 with 19 points, with 27 goals scored and 31 conceded for a -4 goal differential. In their most recent match, Los Dos earned a 3-2 win over Orange County SC on the road on Aug. 7. Galaxy II rank eighth in the league in goals scored (27) and hold a 3-4-0 record on the road during the 2021 campaign.

This year, Preston Judd has seven goals in the USL Championship, the most of any Galaxy II player and tied for eighth in the USL Championship. Additionally, Jorge Hernández ranks second on LA with six goals scored, including leading the league with 43 chances created. Goalkeeper Justin vom Steeg leads the team with three shutouts and 28 saves in 11 appearances in 2021. Josh Drack ranks tied for sixth in the USL Championship with five assists. 

Saturday’s contest marks the third meeting between LA and Oakland in 2021, with the season series tied 1-1-0. In the first meeting between the two teams this year, Los Dos fell 3-2 to Oakland on May 23. In the second meeting in 2021, LA earned a 3-0 shutout win over Oakland on July 25. The Roots and Los Dos will play once more this year, next squaring off on Sept. 18 at Oakland.

In 2020, Los Dos finished the regular season 8-6-2 with 26 points (4-3-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road), earning them second place in Group B standings and clinching a berth in the USL Championship Playoffs for the second-straight season.

Head Coach Junior Gonzalez holds a 19-20-9 record throughout his head coaching tenure with LA Galaxy II and has led the team to two-consecutive playoff appearances. In the seven years of USL Championship competition, Los Dos have qualified for playoffs five times, in addition to a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015.

LA Galaxy II compete in the USL Championship Western Conference Pacific Division for the 2021 campaign alongside the following clubs: Las Vegas Lights FC, Oakland Roots SC, Orange County SC, Phoenix Rising FC, Sacramento Republic FC, San Diego Loyal SC and Tacoma Defiance.
