Sacha Kljestan opened the scoring, but Robin Lod responded to earn a point for Minnesota United FC who drew LA Galaxy, 1-1, in dramatic fashion at Allianz Field Wednesday night.
Galaxy keeper Jonathan Bond stood on his head to keep the match scoreless through 83 minutes.
After a Video Review check by referee Jair Marrufo deemed that Javier Hernandez’s header ricocheted off the arm of United defender Michael Boxall resulting in a penalty shot, veteran midfielder Kljestan stepped up to the spot and sent Dayne St. Clair the wrong way, giving the Galaxy the 1-0 lead.
Four minutes after Kljestan's go-ahead marker, Lod equalized for the home side. The LA Galaxy return home with a well-earned point.
