LA Galaxy II (7-14-5, 26 points) wrapped up a three-game home stand with a 1-1 draw against San Antonio FC (13-2-10, 49 points) on Saturday night at StubHub Center.
LA Galaxy II set the tone in a physical first half, holding a high line and pressing San Antonio from the gate. LA got eight shots off, while stifling San Antonio offensively and earning a first-half shutout.
The Galaxy came out with the same game plan in the second half, and were rewarded immediately. In the 51st minute, an unmarked Jean Engola headed home a corner from Alejandro Covarrubias for his first goal of the season.
But in the 88th, Engola conceded a foul just outside his team’s own penalty box. San Antonio FC midfielder Michael Reed stepped up and laced a perfect free kick into the back of the net.
In a stretch of three homes games in seven days, Los Dos earned four points with their draw against San Antonio FC and a 1-0 win over Rio Grande Valley FC last Sunday. Next, Los Dos travel to face Sacramento Republic FC at 7:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Sacramento.
