Match Report: LA Galaxy II vs. Sacramento Republic FC | September 1, 2021

LOS ANGELES (Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021)  – Down 2-0 midway through the first half, LA Galaxy II fought back to earn a 3-3 draw at Dignity Health Sports Park on Wednesday night. Preston Judd tallied a brace, while Jorge Hernández tallied his ninth goal of the 2021 campaign. 

LA Galaxy II Against Sacramento Republic FC
Wednesday’s match marked the second meeting between LA and Sacramento in 2021, with LA trailing the series 0-1-1. In the first meeting between the two clubs in 2021, Los Dos fell 1-0 at home to Sacramento on April 30. LA and Republic FC play twice more in Sacramento this season, next playing on Sept. 26, before meeting once again on Oct. 13.

SAC – Cameron Iwasa (penalty kick), 16th minute: The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute after Cameron Iwasa’s penalty kick was fired into the right side of the net. *
SAC – Duke Lacroix (Jaime Villarreal), 29th minute: Sacramento doubled its lead in the 29th minute after Duke Lacroix picked the ball up in midfield. Lacroix cut past a defender to his right and then lined up a low shot that picked out the bottom-left corner from 20 yards away. 
LA – Preston Judd (Jonathan Perez), 32nd minute:
* Judd pulled a goal back three minutes later as he was left unmarked at the back post for a cross from the right Jonathan Perez that he nodded back across goal for his 10th goal of the season.

LA – Preston Judd (Axel Picazo), 79th minute: Judd notched his second of the night after Axel Picazo created space for a cross on the right that found the forward at the top of the six-yard area, where he took one touch to control and then stabbed home.

LA – Jorge Hernández (penalty kick), 84th minute: After Judd was fouled inside the 18-yard box area, Hernández stepped up to the penalty spot and chipped his shot into the back of the net. 

SAC – Cameron Iwasa (penalty kick), 89th minute: Sacramento tied the match late after Iwasa stepped up to the penalty spot and placed his shot into the lower left corner of the goal.

  • Following the match, LA Galaxy II improved to 6-9-5 in 20 USL Championship regular-season matches played in 2021. 
  • Wednesday’s contest marked the second meeting between LA and Sacramento in 2021, with Los Dos trailing the season series 0-1-1. 
  • Preston Judd tallied a brace for his team-leading 11th goal of the of the campaign, which ranks tied for fourth in the league in 2021. 
  • Jorge Hernández tallied his ninth goal of the season, which ranks second on the club and tied for ninth overall in the league. 
  • Taylor Davila finished the match with a game-high seven tackles.
