MONTRÉAL (August 22, 2026) – The LA Galaxy (6‑8‑8, 26 points) earned a point on the road in a 2-2 draw with Eastern Conference side CF Montréal (5-10-6, 21 points) at Stade Saputo. 19-year-old Ruben Ramos Jr. scored his first career MLS goal in the 20th minute of the match and Maya Yoshida added on to put the Galaxy in front early in the second half, but a late equalizer from CF Montréal against a 10-man LA squad forced the sides to share the points.
Goalscoring Plays
MTL – Daniel Rios, 16th minute: Following a save by JT Marcinkowski on Sean Longstaff's initial attempt, Diego Rios collected the rebound and scored from close range to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
LA – Ruben Ramos Jr., 20th minute: Robert Taylor's run down the right flank created the opportunity, as he found Kyōgo Furuhashi in front of goal. After Kyōgo's initial effort was stopped, Ruben Ramos Jr. reacted quickest to the rebound and finished from close range to level the match.
LA – Maya Yoshida (Joseph Paintsil, Robert Taylor), 48th minute: Following a set-piece opportunity, the Galaxy kept the attack alive as Joseph Paintsil delivered a low ball into the box. Justin Haak let the pass run through to Maya Yoshida, who took a touch before finishing with a back heel to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
MTL – Prince Owusu (Luca Petrasso), 79th minute: Petrasso clipped a cross into the box that found the head of Owusu to level the match at 2-2.

LA Galaxy Postgame Top Quotes
LA Galaxy Head Coach Greg Vanney
On feeling like the Galaxy left something out there:
“We got to the final fifteen or so up a goal, so I felt like when you do that and you set yourself up for three points, then you got to try to see it out. Obviously picking up our third red card this week, it's not a great formula for getting points. It's not an easy week going to Houston, playing in Houston, then coming home and then coming all the way out to Montréal. It's a challenging week, and then you add on top of it, like I said, a red card each game. Two of them were basically for a half. Tonight, not quite the half, but guys put in a great shift and they battled. And probably at the end of the week, if you had said we took three red cards, but we managed to take four points, you probably wouldn't bat an eye at that. But we're at that point especially here by being up a goal or where the three points was the mission. And I think we were well on our way until that moment.”
On three red cards in a week:
“There's rarely a season I can remember being with a team that's taken three red cards in a season, much less in a week. Sometimes it's poor decisions, sometimes lack of awareness, whatever. There have been different reasons for different choices. I just don't think JT [Marcinkowski] needed to come for that necessarily based on where the player was and the direction he was running. I just don't think he really needed to try to make a play. He thought he could get there in time, and obviously, he didn't, leaving us in a tough position. But again, the guys stayed strong enough to get something out of it.”
On the positive takeaways from the match:
“I thought that was a solid match. Again, up until the end when we were scrambling a little bit, I think just a touch before that you could feel like we could see a little bit of fatigue in the group, and we were under it a little bit, but not giving up too much. But aside from that, I felt like we were in pretty good control of situations. I thought our connection was good in terms of having good numbers in the midfield and guys being able to combine. I thought it was interesting to see Kyōgo [Furuhashi] and Joe [Paintsil] a little bit more like two forwards. And how those two guys with their speed and their quickness and sharpness, how they can create problems for a back line and for center backs. So, we went [with] something a little bit tactically different tonight. There's obviously some takeaways inside of the evening that I think were really positive. Overall, I'm disappointed that we didn’t get the win, [but] I'm actually pleased with the effort and that we put ourselves in position throughout the night.”
LA Galaxy Forward Ruben Ramos Jr.
On scoring his first MLS goal:
“Finally, happy it came. I've been waiting for almost two years now for it and I'm glad that it came today. I'd like to thank God first for my goal. It just felt like an unreal moment. I didn't even know if it hit the back of the net. I just know the keeper didn't get it, so I kind of figured it went in. I started running and felt like I was in another world. Honestly, when I scored, I was just happy overall.”
On having more confidence after his performances at the Concacaf U20 Championship:
“Definitely after that tournament, I had a little bit of confidence. So, I wanted to bring it into this game because I just wanted to keep going. I wanted to score my first goal; that was on the top of my mind. When I knew I was starting, I wanted to score my first goal and also give a good performance. And having that confidence from the coach really helped me out today.”
On playing with accomplished players like Marco Reus, Hirving Lozano and Kyōgo:
“Yeah, [I have] a lot of questions for them, because obviously, they have experience in the Champions League and all over the world. So, I just try to get as much information from them and then translate that into the game today. Their advice helped me out today a lot. I'd like to thank them for all their information and all their advice they've given me so far.”
