Match Report: Sacramento Republic FC vs. LA Galaxy II | September 26, 2021

LOS ANGELES (Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021)  – Playing the first of two games in the span of four days, LA Galaxy II earned their second consecutive win with a 2-0 shutout road victory over Sacramento Republic FC at Heart Health Park on Sunday afternoon. Jalen Neal and Cameron Dunbar each tallied their first goal of the 2021 campaign, while goalkeeper Justin vom Steeg notched four saves and posted his fifth shutout of the season

LA Galaxy II Run Of Form 

The win over Sacramento marked Los Dos’ second consecutive league win, dating back to a 1-0 road win over Oakland Roots SC on Sept. 18. The win move LA Galaxy II into sixth place in the Pacific Division, just one point behind fourth place Oakland Roots (8-11-6, 30 points). The top four teams from each division in the regular season will advance into a regionalized single-elimination bracket for the playoffs. In its last six matches played dating back to Aug. 27, LA holds a 3-2-1 record. Notably, the win improved LA’s road record to 6-6-0 during the 2021 campaign.

LA – Jalen Neal, 67th minute: Galaxy II took the lead in the 67th minute as Republic FC goalkeeper Rafael Diaz was unable to handle a free kick cleanly and Jalen Neal put away the loose ball into the net to score his first goal of the season. 

LA – Cameron Dunbar (Jorge Hernández), 90th minute: Los Dos put the game away in the final minute, however, as Jorge Hernández created space on the left to deliver a low cross through the top of the six-yard area that Dunbar put away at the back post for a two-goal advantage.
